·OnlineGood morning Dr. Sharma. I wanted to ask about my Amlodipine dosage. My BP readings this week have been around 142/90 even with the medication.

Good morning Rajesh. Thank you for keeping track of your BP readings. A consistent 142/90 suggests we may need to review the current regimen. Have you been taking the medication regularly and at the same time each day?
Yes, I take it every morning with breakfast. I haven't missed a single dose this week.

Good. Also, have you been monitoring your sodium intake? High-salt foods can blunt the effect of antihypertensives significantly. Please reduce processed foods and pickles.
I have been trying to eat less salt, but it's been difficult with home food. I'll speak with my family about it.

That's perfectly understandable. I'm going to increase the Amlodipine to 10mg OD from tomorrow. I'll update your prescription in the portal shortly.
Thank you Doctor. Should I continue monitoring my BP twice daily?

Yes, please record morning and evening readings for the next 10 days and bring the log to your next visit. Keep a note if the readings change significantly.

Also, please avoid caffeinated drinks after 4 PM. Caffeine can transiently raise blood pressure. Please ensure you take your evening dose before 9 PM.
